The book describes contexts of the atom. It is designed as a supplement to established content in mechanics, electrodynamics and atomic physics and is intended as a natural philosophy supplement to common examination material. It understands the atom primarily as an element of description and less as an instance of explanation. The phenomenological approach shows how the concept of the atom integrates possible interaction processes with the environment into a local description approach and how electrodynamic and electrostatic perspectives are combined.
